Wednesday it was flowers, Thursday it is shoes...
For the next week, my assignment is to paint shoes in Jane LaFazio’s on-line watercolor class. They are a bit more challenging than I thought they would be. But just like the leaves and flowers that we painted in the past weeks, it is very interesting to really LOOK at the shoes and see the details and shadows and try to get the sketch to look like a shoe before adding the watercolor. Jane had some suggestions for me on this particular shoe, which I hope to implement today. I’m also working on a second shoe that is more complicated which I hope to also get to today. I posted a photo of it on the class forum to get some ideas from Jane and the other students on how to proceed. I say I’ll work on those today but the beautiful weather also beckons.
Last Monday I met with some other Ranch Hand quilters, lead by Janelle, and we talked about making quilts for new residents of Habitat for Humanity homes in Marin County. Our first goal is to finish two little girls quilts by mid May. I am organizing one of theme which needs to be a girly-girl quilt with lots of reds and purples. I’ll post pictures as soon as we have something going. Janelle is organizing the other quilt which will be very different with lots of animals, browns and neutrals. These are selections the girls made themselves. This is a new venture of all of us and we’re looking forward to it.
