At the end of the street that I live on, there is a gravel turn-around that circles a big ROCK. It is known by people all over town as “The Rock,” and is a very dear and special spot for all our neighbors. We have a big annual neighborhood party there every year and some neighbors have even been married there. The back drop is a gnarly old oak tree and majestic Mount Tamalpais. On rare occasions there is snow on the mountain and on even rarer occasions the sky clears and we are able to see the snow from “The Rock.” I took the reference photo for this quilt about January 2010. It was a stunning clear, cold and beautiful day.
